From a young age Ben proved that music would be his livelihood and his voice in the world. He started improvising at the age of 10, playing trumpet in the school band. When his family purchased a piano it was immediately clear that thirteen year old Ben had found his instrument. He spent hours improvising and composing free flowing pieces of melodic music in the style of blues and jazz. It was evident to all who listened that Ben had something original to add to the world of music. He studied under a very well known jazz teacher in California, Charlie Shoemake, until his acceptance to the prestigious Berklee College Of Music in Boston in 2006. There he continued his studies of the piano and discovered an interest in singing along the way, now pursuing voice and piano with equal commitment. Ben's musical style is soulful and echoes the feel of the blues in everything he plays. He loves jazz and has found a deep affinity with the music of the traditional jazz and blues masters of the 20th Century, enjoying and playing a more straight ahead and soulful style. This is a sound that can be appreciated and enjoyed by common listeners of all ages, that tells a story, touches the heart, creates a mood, sparks a memory, and sets your foot taping. Timeless music.
